Those of us who've been around Symphony since its earliest days know just how far it's come in the past couple of years. But whether you've been using Symphony for years or just discovered it recently, I think we can all agree on this: we are part of a fantastic project and a pretty special community.
I think it's time we let people in on our little secret.
A couple opportunities have come to our attention, and we're hoping to enlist all of you to help spread the word:
- Symphony's nomination for Open Source Application of the Year by .net Magazine Awards
- Packt Open Source Awards
I hope you've come to love Symphony as much as I do, but in case you need convincing, take a moment to think back on all that we've accomplished in just the past year and a half:
- Symphony 2.0 was released at the end of 2008 and has matured at a very fast pace.
- The new Symphony CMS site and brand was launched in November 2009
- We held our first official meetup, Symposium 2010, in London in June 2010
- Symphony 3.0 beta was released at the Symposium 2010
- 196 Extensions have been created by the community
- 52 XSLT snippets have been added to the Utilities library
- A growing list of Ensembles have been contributed
- An impressive assortment of 278 sites have made the Showcase an ever-growing testament to Symphony's power and flexibility.
- Symphony 2.1 was released in July 2010
- Working Groups are being formed to better involve the community in future development
If anyone has other ideas about how to get the word out, please let us know. Let's keep adding to our list of Symphony Marketing/Promo Ideas.
Thanks everyone!
