byethost is a free host, but I’ve found most free hosts to be lacking in reliability. this one seems to have fairly good uptime. i wouldn’t rely on it… but for testing it’s not bad.

with slicehost, you pretty much have to setup your server. they have great tutorials to get you up and running and great community, but you are managing your server. so, it’s not for beginners.

OK cool, thanks for the heads up! If I delve in there, I’m sure to get my hands dirty quickly, but I kinda enjoy that sort of thing!

Paul (aka Pickled Onion) at useful jaja is one of the best tutorial guys for Slicehost out there. He was actually hired by Slicehost after writing his stuff on Useful JaJa to do technical tutorial writing for them.
